He told Time 106.6: "We are guaranteed a top five finish. Now the next objective is to try and win the league. Is the job done? No. In four or five weeks time the league can change drastically."

The big local derby between Slough Town and Burnham has been called off. The match was 50/50 before midday. But with more rain forecast, it was agreed that the pitch would be 'unfit' to play on come 7.30pm.

Burnham extended their unbeaten run to 6 games after beating Arlesey Town 1-0. Windsor and Eton humiliated Cinderford Town in a 5-0 whitewash. Slough Town were held to a 2-2 draw by Sutton Coldfield Town. Maidenhead United could also only manage a 1-1 draw at Dover Athletic.

Windsor and Eton manager Keith Scott has paid tribute to his side ahead of a home tie with Cinderford Town. The Royals extended their unbeaten record to 27 games after a 1-1 draw at Frome Town. Scott says before his players even kick a ball, they have had 13 hour days.

The Windsor Rollergirls face the The Sheffield Steel Rollergirls on Saturday. The bouts taking place at the Wycombe Sports Centre, doors open at 4:30pm, bout starts at 5pm. Tickets are £5, under 12's are free if accompanied by an adult. The girls will also be fundraising for the ICU at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

A date has been set for Maidenhead United's Berks and Bucks Senior Cup Semi-Final game against Thatcham Town. The tie will be played next Tuesday at Thatcham's Waterside Park stadium. This will be the Magpies first official visit to the ground which opened in 1993 It means the Blue Square South clash with Woking at York Road which was originally scheduled for this date has been put back to Tuesday 13 April.

Reading have appointed Brian McDermott as full-time manager on a 12-month rolling contract. McDermott succeeded Brendan Rodgers last month on a caretaker basis, and led the side to victory at Liverpool in the FA Cup. He has worked at the club as chief scout and reserve team manager since joining the Royals in 2000.

A Maidenhead man who a rowing gold medal at the 1948 Olympics has died. Bert Bushnell was 88. He ran Bushnells Boatyard on the river, hiring boats to holidaymakers, during the seventies.

Midfielder Ashley Smith has re-signed for the Magpies from Blue Square South rivals Hampton. Smith originally signed for United in the summer of 2006 and went onto make 125 appearances as an important member of the squad which won promotion via the playoffs from the Southern League and then consolidated their Blue Square South status. Last summer Smith opted for a change of scenery by moving to the Beveree but has now decided to return to York Road in time for the Boxing Day game against St. Albans City.

Bury Town kept their challenge for the Zamaretto Midlands league title on track with a deserved victory over Slough Town at Holloways Park. After having much the better of the first half, the Suffolk visitors took the lead on 57 minutes through Sam Reed, and despite a late rally, the home side could not find a way past Marcus Garnham in the Bury goal.

The Slough Jets take to the ice again this weekend. The Jets face Peterborough tomorrow at The Hanger. £2 from every ticket sold will go to Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East. Then on Sunday there is a trip to Guildford. Peter Russell's side continue to move up the table and are now just three points adrift of leaders Manchester. The countdown has begun to Staines Town's big FA cup game this weekend. The Swans take on Millwall in the second round of the competition at Wheatsheaf Park on Saturday. In 2007, Staines Town caused a cup upset when they beat league two outfit Stockport, but went onto loose to Peterborough at home. Manager Steve Cordery says they have learnt alot from that experience.

Elsewhere, Burnham face Bracknell Town in the second round of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup tonight. Manager Jamie Jarvis is pleased the game has been held at the Gore.

The countdown has begun to Staines Town's FA Cup second round tie with Millwall. The club have told Time 106.6 it will be played on home soil at Wheatsheaf Park after a meeting with police. Chairman Alan Boon says the game will not make alot of revenue for the Swans.

The Slough Jets have moved up one place in the English Premier League, to fourth, despite a mixed weekend. The Jets pushed Milton Keynes into second after a 6-3 win at The Hanger. But they could not overcome Sheffied - the final score 2 (PS) 1. The Slough Jets are now just four points adrift of league leaders Manchester. On Friday, Head Coach Peter Russell told Time 106.6, this year's EPL is tough, with four or five teams capable of winning it.

Windsor and Eton have signed striker Gavin Smith from Ashford Town. Smith made 124 starts and 39 sub appearances for Ashford scoring 67 times. He was also top scorer three seasons running in 04/05, 06/07 and 07/08. Manager Keith Scott says he is delighted to have Smith on board and the signing was all about reinforcing his front line.

Maidenhead United boss Johnson Hippolyte has denied reports he has contracted swine flu. Hippolyte told Time 106.6, his wife has got the virus although he is feeling unwell. Hippolyte has also revealed that none of his players have yet to come down with swine flu. However, he will be keeping his distance at training tonight, as a precaution.

Another good contest between Burnham and Croydon Athletic saw the Blues go through to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy. Ben Godfrey put the visitors in front on 52 minutes before a brace from Ryan Bird on 59 and 80 minutes saw his team through and a trip to Worcester City on the 21 November.

The search is on to find a replacement for Slough Jets player James Knight. Head Coach Peter Russell has let him go as he makes changes to strengthen his team. "It is never an easy thing to do to release a player from any team but I've released James Knight from his contract with the Slough Jets. As Head Coach it's my responsibility to put out the best all round team that will complement each other in all areas and I feel by making this tough decision I can push towards achieving this."

Then a rare defensive error cost Johnson Hippolyte's side the game against Bath City, on Tuesday night. Hippolyte told Time 106.6, despite this, he is happy with the progress his side is making. He has previously admitted that this season will be tough as he has a squad that is full of inexperienced players.

Maidenhead United were outclassed by Arsenal, last night. The Young XI beat the Magpies by 7 goals to 1. However, Maidenhead United did go into half time with a 1 - 0 lead. Speaking after last night's friendly, Head of Youth Development and the Arsenal Academy Liam Brady described the game as a "good pre season friendly". Specifically he thought Maidenhead "played some quite good football and gave us some problems in the first half".

In the Championship, It’s fortress Madejski, as Reading maintain their 100 per cent record at home. The Royals beat Burnley by 3 goals to 1. In League Two, Wycombe remain top after their 3 – 1 win over Bournemouth. The victory at Adams Park puts the Chairboys, 2 clear of Bury in second place. In the Blue Square South, Maidenhead United secured another 3 points at York Road with a 2 – 1 win over Dorchester Town. The result leaves them 5th in the table with a game in hand. In the Ryman Premier, Staines Town held Canvey Island to a 2 – 2 draw. The Swans are now just 6 points off the top of the table. In the Southern Division South and West, Burnham could only manage a draw but Windsor and Eton got a win. In rugby, London Wasps were dealt a blow in their EDF Energy Cup opener. The Wasps finished on the wrong side of a 24 points to 19 scoreline. Well, London Irish kick off their EDF Energy Cup campaign against the Worcester Warriors this afternoon. In Ice Hockey, Slough Jets are now a point clear of Guildford at the top of the EPL, after their 4 – 2 win over Bracknell Bees. Next up for the Jets is Peterborough Phantoms, tonight.

Commercial manager Angie Payne says the Swans are more than a match for the opposition. In the Championship Reading entertain Swansea City at the Madayski stadium. The Royal lie 6th in the table. Elsehere, Burham are away to Beaconsfield SYCOB. Windsor and Eton could climb the table if they beat Cinderford town. And Slough Town go to Handover. The Magpies go into the match on a high having beaten Bishop's Stortford 3 - 2 in the Blue Square South on Saturday. Boss Johnsson Hippolyte says while he takes the FA Cup seriously, league promotion remains the ultimate goal.

Danny Cipriani's ready to return to action. The London Wasps player fractured his ankle in May, and looked like he'd be out for 6 months. But he's set to return to the Wasps first-team in their Premiership game with Bath on October 1st. The fly-half says he can't wait.

England flanker James Haskell has escaped a long ban for headbutting. The Rugby Football Union has suspended him only for a week for an incident during Wasps' Premiership defeat to Worcester earlier this month. The maximum penalty is two years, but a disciplinary panel says the offence was at the lower end of the scale.

It's been a triumphant weekend in local football without a loss to report. Maidenhead United finished are back on their winning streak with a 3-2 win over Bishops Stortford Reading drew 2-2 away with Watford Wycombe wanderers won 2-1 against Dagenham. Ramsgate FC drew 1-1 with Staines Town Windsor and Eton Town finished 1-0 ahead of Didcot. Slough Town won 3-2 over Circencester Town.

Wycombe wanderers drew nil nil against Brentford Staines Town won 3-0 over Cheshunt. Windsor and Eton drew two all with Andover Slough Town lost one nil to Farnborough

Maidenhead United return to league action this weekend after their exit from the Sentanta Shield. The Magpies were beaten 2-1 by Havant and Waterville in the first round of the competition. They now travel to London to face AFC Wimbeldon tomorrow with a place at the top of the Blue Square South at stake. Boss Johnsson Hippolyte says they'll go there and attack the game.

Reading lost four - two to Charlton yesterday Wycombe Wnderers won 2-1 over Lincoln City Maidenhead United won 5-2 over Bognor Regis Staines Town won 2-1 over Tonbridge Angel But Windsor and Eton v Truro City lost four nil to Truro City Slough Town lost 4-1 to Cinderford town yesterday.

It's a brilliant weekend for our local football sides. Reading secured their first win of the season with a two-nil victory over Plymouth yesterday. Wycombe also came out on top against Chester, with a final score of 2 - nil. Maidenhead United beat Braintree Town 2-1, Staines town beat Billiricay RTown 1-nil. Windsor Town got their season off to a great start with a 2-1 win away at Gosport Borough. And finally Slough Town drew 2 all against Burnham.

This weekend has seen the football season kick off for our local sides.. Wycombe Wonderers drew one all with Morcambe in League 2 while Maidenhead beat hosts Bromley 2-1 yesterday. Reading have an away game against Nottingham Forest in the curtain raiser to their Championship campaign later today.

Things are looking good for Slough town. They take on Eton Wick tonight in their second pre season friendly. It comes after the Rebels humiliated Penn & Tylers Green by 5 goals to 0 at the weekend. But the day belonged to new signing Danny Jordon. He scored a hatrick of wins. Time 106.6 caught up with Manager Derek Sweetman, he told us he's pleased with the result.
