| ROYAL BOROUGH SCHOOL ADMISSIONS SHAKE UP |
| It is that time of year again.
Parents in the Royal Borough are being encouraged to have their say about school admission arrangements for the next academic year.
The consulation covers a shake up of "in-year" applications, those made outside normal transfer times.
1. Until now, parents requesting school places at times other than at normal transfer times have applied directly to their preferred primary school. For places from September 2010 these applications will be made through the local authority responsible for the preferred school.
2. In addition, from September 2011 parents will have to apply to the local authority to whom they pay council tax – even if the school is in another authority.
The consultation can be viewed at www.rbwm.gov.uk. It closes on Saturday 27 February 2010 after which the new arrangements will be considered and decided upon at Cabinet in March.
